About the job


We have an exciting opportunity for an administrator within Council's Licensing (Policy and Applications) Section of Leicester City Council to cover Maternity Leave for a period of 6 Months.

We deal with alcohol & entertainment licensed premises, gambling establishments, taxis, street trading, street cafes amongst other things and the successful person will be involved in supporting the Licensing Officers in the day to day processing of these applications providing administrative support

Your role

You will support the service with assistance in taking phone calls and providing basic advice to applicants for taxi licences in relation to their applications – particularly the booking of knowledge tests and confirmation of their appointments and dealing with any outstanding documentation issues. In addition you will be involved in supporting the Licensing Officers with other processes involved in the various licensing applications we deal with.

In this role you will be dealing with personal information which is sensitive and confidentiality is important in all that you do

You will need

You will be required to demonstrate previous experience of carrying out intermediate level administration tasks as well as dealing with customers both on the telephone and face to face.

As an experience administrator you will be required to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills. You will have a great understanding of customer care and a positive attitude to all staff and public.

You will have experience of organising themselves and their workload to a high standard, with a systematic approach to task management. You must have strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail and problem- solving skills and will be able to demonstrate knowledge of standard IT systems, equipment and processes with aptitude for learning new systems and procedures.

The ability to work as part of the team and build productive working relationships is essential.
