Job purpose

Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service offer a large and diverse programme of further education qualification courses as well as extensive community-based provision. We have a diverse, enthusiastic student community, taught and supported by well qualified, dedicated staff.

We are currently looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced tutor to deliver Counselling qualifications at Level 2 and above. Ideally a practitioner, you should have experience of teaching to at least Level 2, but experience of teaching to a higher level would be beneficial.

You will work in a variety of settings across the City, having the necessary ability to ensure that learners receive a positive experience and achieve their full potential in their learning journey.

Your role

As an Adult Tutor, you will ensure that teaching reflects current good practice and that assessment is sufficient to meet the demands of quality assurance and awarding body expectations. You will evaluate and provide continuous improvement to your teaching practice and have in place strategies that ensure maximum attendance, retention and achievement.

What you will need

In addition to excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills, you will have the appropriate qualifications, which include: an adult teaching qualification at level 4 with experience of teaching adults aged 16 years and above, as well as a level 4 Counselling qualification and English at level 2. You will have commitment and enthusiasm for delivering quality learning experiences to people living and working in Leicester City, as well as the ability to identify individual learning needs, design and plan lessons accordingly.

The hourly rate is £23.78 - £26.76 per hour, depending on experience.

The hours of work are 2.5 to 10 per week.
