Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service (LASALS) offer a large and diverse programme of further education qualification courses as well as extensive community-based provision. We have a diverse, enthusiastic student community, taught and supported by qualified and dedicated staff.
We are looking to appoint well-qualified, dedicated and skilled tutors to join our successful ESOL team. We need inspirational and motivated tutors to provide a high-quality learning experience that promotes achievement and learner progression.
You will be able to travel to a variety of adult learning settings across the city and work outside of normal office hours in order to provide learning opportunities to diverse groups.
As an Adult Tutor, you will ensure that teaching reflects current good practice and that assessment is sufficient to meet the demands of quality assurance and awarding body expectations. You will evaluate and provide continuous improvement to your teaching practice and have in place strategies that ensure maximum attendance, retention and achievement. By selecting resources appropriate to learners and outcomes, as well as using teaching methods and styles which promote active learning, you will ensure that learners receive a positive experience and achieve their full potential in their learning journey.
You'll have excellent communication, interpersonal and administrative skills, you will have the appropriate qualifications, which include:
In addition to the qualifications, you will have experience of teaching ESOL and demonstrate the ability to design and implement learning programmes from initial assessment to successful outcomes for learners. With commitment and enthusiasm for delivering quality learning experiences to people living and working in the city, you will be able to identify individual learning needs, design and plan lessons accordingly. You need to have the necessary knowledge and IT skills to use relevant software packages and ILT in the classroom or to teach online if required.
