Job purpose

To undertake Gardening duties to assist the Council's Parks Services team in meeting its specific objectives, whilst undertaking a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Gardening

You will

The post holders will be working at a number of different parks and open spaces to include work on a wide variety of tasks including, maintenance of grass areas, shrub borders, planted areas, including annual bedding, rose and herbaceous borders, sports pitch maintenance and general duties on parks. You will work as part of a local team based at one of our parks depots. The posts will include a programme of moving around the city so flexibility in work location are required

Requirements of the post

Some previous experience of gardening is essential. Ability to work as part of a team. Communication skills to deal with customers, listen to instructions, work on own initiative and to be able to undertake physically demanding tasks to pass the initial assessment for the Apprenticeship scheme. A commitment to undertake and complete the training course, willing to work anywhere in the city, wear a uniform and work outside in all weather conditions. Numeracy and literacy skills sufficient to be able to complete the course work


 


You will be required to undertake a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Gardening qualifications

Additional information

1st year- National Minimum Wage (age related)


2nd year- grade 2- £18,065- £18,426 per annum
