Job purpose

Working as part of the Geographic and Planning Information team you will be involved in maintaining and developing the Local Land and Property, Street Gazetteers and Planning databases. You will also carry out associated GIS / mapping, data capture work and other projects.

You will

Maintain and develop of the corporate Local Land & Property and Street Gazetteers ensuring national standards of entry are maintained.

Investigate and evaluate a variety of data sources to accurately identify property records.

Create and maintain corporate GIS datasets.

Liaise with both internal and external users of the Gazetteers and Planning Information systems.

Provide technical support and advice to others on gazetteer related matters.

Undertake site visits when required.

Requirements of the post

Have at least 1 years’ experience of GIS data capture and a working knowledge or training in GIS systems (MapInfo is the current standard system but experience in other systems such as QGIS or ArcGIS is acceptable)

Have experience of collating and maintaining information in database system

Have working experience of using and interpreting Ordnance Survey mapping, Aerial Photos & architects plans.

Have knowledge and experience about the purpose and operation of property and street gazetteers

Have experience of working to data Quality Assurance procedures with a high level of attention to detail.

Additional information

1 Full Time, Fixed Term post for 6 months (with the possibility to extend)
