About the job

We require three Clerk of Works to provide a service for contracts administered by the Building and Services Team, ensuring that works are carried out to specification, confirming completion of works for invoicing and ensuring that legislation, including, health and safety is enforced. You will also provide a Clerk of Works service for DSO works and repairs, raising quality audits on all works inspected and ensuring that legislation, including, health and safety is enforced. The team strive to raise awareness of good working practices, deal with issues of poor quality and provide a condition survey service.

You will

Measure, record and control on-site contractors' work including inspecting and reporting on work undertaken.Initiate action to correct unsatisfactory work and materials to avoid potential problems.Enforce legislative requirements including Health & Safety issues.Verify quantities of work undertaken by contractors for payment purposes.Advise design and maintenance staff on site construction details, building methods and specified materials.

Our ideal candidate

Substantial knowledge of building construction & maintenance requirements.A working knowledge and experience of Health and Safety Regulations enforcement.An ability to supervise contractors.Good communication skills both written and verbal. Literate and numerate sufficient to be able to write letters & compose basic reports.A BTEC Higher in Building Studies with relevant experience / BTEC National in Building Studies with sufficient relevant experience, or able to demonstrate significant equivalent and relevant experience.
