Are you a recent IT graduate who would like to play a key role in setting up IT equipment for digitally excluded adults in the City?
Cities are constantly facing challenges in areas including education, social care, public health and protecting the environment. They are attempting to tackle these challenges in smart new ways, making use of data and digital technology.
Leicester City Council has a developing Smart City strategy and programme, which has the potential to transform the city and improve the quality of life for all its residents. As part of this strategy an IT Equipment Loan Scheme is being set up for digitally excluded adults in the city who have been referred by organisations and council officers. The loan of equipment will be managed through the Library service with technical support being provided by the Adult Education Service.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Project Officer to join our Adult Skills & Learning Service to provide the technical and administrative support for the project. Join us and you’ll have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and gain first-hand practical experience of working in an IT related environment. At Adult Education, we are keen for our staff to access relevant training to further enhance their career and learn new skills.
Based at the Adult Education College, you’ll be required to work at various locations across the city. You’ll be provided with a laptop to enable you to work flexibly.
This is a full-time, fixed term post for 12 months.
As a Graduate Project Officer, you’ll work closely with and support the IT Technician to maintain the curriculum network and IT Equipment which includes setting up new devices, problem solving and ensuring effective systems are established and maintained. Liaising with key partners, you’ll organise the loan of devices as well as monitor the deployment/return of devices by maintaining the inventory using a mobile device management system. You’ll provide telephone/email technical support and advice to customers. You’ll work closely with the Smart Cities team and partners to deliver and evaluate the project delivery plan
You’ll have graduated within the past 24 months, having achieved a minimum of 2:2 degree or above in a relevant subject such as computing and IT. Using excellent communication skills, you’ll have the ability to engage and work with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders, both inside and outside the City Council.
