Your role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Project Officer to support the delivery of environmental education in Leicester. Environmental education is a core offer, delivered to primary, secondary and special schools in Leicester City.

Leicester City Council provides dedicated environmental education support to schools to help them become more sustainable in all that they do. As well as one to one support, schools can engage through termly #EcoTeachmeets, staff training, resource planning & workshops, an annual Eco-Schools conference & celebration event and keep up to date through dedicated social media, monthly eBulletins and termly newsletters. Schools are encouraged to sign up for the Eco-Schools Award.

We are looking for a graduate who is confident, able to work as part of a team as well as independently when required. You need to be able to interact with many types of stakeholders, including students and teachers in schools.

As a Graduate Project Officer you will support the delivery of projects within the sustainability and energy team, specifically around environmental education, whilst carrying out administrative duties and liaising with internal and external customers. You will prepare and deliver formal reports, briefings and updates, whilst assisting with the evaluation of projects.

What you will need

You will need to be able to use own initiative, with the ability to work alone and as part of a team, whilst demonstrating an appreciation of customer care.

An important part of the role is to manage your time effectively and meet work deadlines, whilst using your great communication, professional attitude and interpersonal skills sufficient to deal effectively with customers, work colleagues and senior management.

You will be enthusiastic, have a willingness to learn, be self-motivated, have an analytical approach, whist showing accuracy and an eye for detail in the work that is produced.

This post is a fixed term 9-month role with a potential to be extended (dependent on external funding).
