About the job

Cities are constantly facing challenges in areas including education, social care, public health and protecting the environment.

Many cities are attempting to tackle these challenges in smart new ways, making use of data and digital technology.

Leicester City Council has a developing Smart City strategy and programme, which has the potential to transform the City and improve the quality of life for all its residents.

We are seeking a Graduate Project Officer (GPO) to join our Smart City team. You will help the Council respond to the aftermath of the Covid19 crisis with a focus on digital inclusion to help strengthen communities and restore their prospects.

Your role

Within the Smart Cities team, you will assist with the planning and implementation of projects and tasks across the programme.

You will ensure that the impacts and benefits are equitable and that the City reduces digital exclusion among women, ethnic minorities, the elderly and disabled and other vulnerable groups and communities.

We will work together to build upon your existing skills and learn new ones to help you progress and explore opportunities for a long-term career.

What you'll need

Using your excellent communication skills, you will engage and work with a diverse range of colleagues and stakeholders, both inside and outside the City Council. You will have an enthusiastic approach to work, a willingness to learn and the ability to advocate for improvement and change.

Using your excellent IT skills, you’ll be able to write professional reports and use spreadsheets to research, collect and analyse information. As an innovative thinker, you’ll also be able to solve problems and work well within a team environment.

Please note: You will be expected to have graduated within the past 18 months, having achieved a minimum of 2:2 degree or above in a relevant subject.
