About the job

We’re looking for a dedicated Head of Service to play a central role in ensuring the delivery of a high quality service for children and young people with SEND across Leicester City. Join us and you’ll have the opportunity to shape services that improve outcomes and life chances for pupils with SEND.

You’ll be a part of a great team, working closely with key partners including education settings, families, as well as colleagues from health and social care.

You will play a key role in developing and implementing our vision, which is that all children and young people with SEND in Leicester City have the support and opportunities they need to learn, thrive and achieve.

Your role

You’ll be responsible for the development and implementation of our strategy as well as ensuring effective delivery of our statutory services and wider SEND provision. You will lead a team of dedicated SEND service staff, providing leadership and professional direction, implementing robust quality assurance and effectively managing key budgets. Working collaboratively with key partners including education settings, families and colleagues from health and social care, you will ensure that the rights and welfare of children and their families are at the centre of service development and delivery.

You will be responsible for driving forward further improvements and partnership working following our local area SEND inspection. Relevant experience in similar roles is essential.

What you’ll need

You’ll have solid knowledge on SEND related legislation predominantly focusing on the Children and Families Act 2014 and its code of practice. Significant experience in running a range of statutory SEND Services. You’ll be experienced and capable to plan and strategically implement policy change and quality assurance frameworks. You’ll need the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of partners. You’ll have good analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and to monitor and manage budgets and other resources. This may include performance review, service monitoring/evaluation and budgetary control.
