This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive and forward-thinking health and safety professional looking to provide expert advice on a wide range of health and safety issues across a variety of working environments including our parks portfolio.
The Health and Safety Team provides high quality support and guidance to all council services including adult and children’s social care, schools, housing, parks and services involving construction and maintenance activities as well as building management. This demanding yet rewarding role requires a highly-motivated and committed individual.
Based at Sovereign House, you’ll have the flexibility to work from home. You’ll be required to travel to various locations across the city to conduct site visits and attend meetings.
Establishing high quality links with customers and stakeholders at all levels you’ll exert a positive influence over health and safety management, enabling compliance with legislation and best practice and the prevention of accidents, injuries and loss. You’ll undertake a range of audits, inspections, investigations and complex risk assessments across our park portfolio, making decisions and resolving problems by using innovative solutions where appropriate.
Using your creative flair, you’ll design and deliver engaging health and safety training to employees of Leicester City Council and external organisations. You’ll also act as lead officer and subject matter expert for assigned specialist areas of work or projects surrounding parks, such as fire, design and technology, or care homes, according to your knowledge and experience.
This is a career graded post. Whilst we would ideally like to appoint at the Senior Health & Safety Adviser level, we are happy to consider applicants for the Health & Safety Adviser or Assistant Health & Safety Adviser levels too.
For appointment at the senior level you’ll need to have a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, or suitable relevant experience, and be a Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards this. Please refer to the job specifications for full details of the requirements, including for the Adviser and Assistant Adviser levels.
Using your ability to build strong relationships you’ll work with managers across the organisation to identify trends and areas of concern following review of incidents to contribute towards the creation of an increased safety conscious culture within the organisation.
We are seeking 1 post holder to work a 37-hour week. Working hours are typically daytime, Monday to Friday and this position will be offering a permanent contract.
