About the job

Working in a school environment, you will assist in the preparation and cooking of meals for children. Serving food and beverages, making sure the dining areas are clean and safe and undertaking other general duties associated with working in a kitchen. You will be supported by senior staff throughout your working hours.

You will

Assist in the preparation, production and serving of food.

Undertake the setting up and dismantling of dining room furniture, cleaning of premises, plant and equipment.

Report accidents, breakdown of equipment and Food Safety and Health and Safety hazards.

Undertake all specified duties in compliance with relevant food safety and health and safety legislation, and to react as   directed to future amendments. To take all reasonable precautions and to exercise all due diligence to avoid breaches of legislation, and to ensure security of premises.

Attend and assist in the cleaning of the kitchen/dining room/furniture on the specified day.

Promote Customer Care and liaise with other catering staff and customers to achieve delivery and standard of service required.

Requirements of the post

- You must have an understanding of Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Regulations

- You must be able to understand basic verbal instructions

- Experience of demonstrating Customer Care

- Experience of working on own initiative

- Subject to an Enhanced DBS Check

This is an open recruitment advert for Kitchen Assistants across Leicester City.

Please note that the hours of work available will be: 10 – 12.5 hours per week

Casual and Permanent posts available - please indicate your preference at interview.

Salary: £9.00 per hour
