Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service offers a large and diverse programme of educational qualification courses, as well as extensive community-based provision. We have a diverse, enthusiastic learning community, taught and supported by well qualified, dedicated staff.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated tutor for our English programme – which currently includes Pre-Entry, Ascentis Progression Awards, Functional Skills and GCSE. As a skilled, experienced and passionate teacher, you’ll work with the Curriculum Coordinator to lead in the development, implementation and monitoring of this programme area. This exciting role will be responsible for ensuring the service meets its commitment to Leicester residents to enable them to gain the qualifications and skills they need to progress in their daily lives.
You must to able to work in a variety of settings across the city and to regularly travel to these venues, including in the evenings.
As a confident Lead Tutor with excellent leadership skills, you'll advise, motivate and support a team of tutors to deliver a high quality and effective programme of learning. You'll ensure strategies to improve learner achievement and progression are in place and that an ethos of continuous improvement is adopted to work towards the service aspiration for becoming an outstanding learning provider. With a modern and inspirational approach to teaching English in the classroom, you'll develop engaging and effective learning and assessment tools and practice. There is also the expectation that you'll be able to use Information Learning Technology in and out of the classroom to develop creative learning resources and incorporate in your delivery.
With experience of teaching in the relevant subject area, modelling excellent practice and with a demonstratable record of innovation and have a good understanding of quality standards and the ability to implement strategies for continuous improvement. You'll also have the appropriate qualifications, which include:
Alongside these qualifications experience of observation of teaching, learning and assessment practice is desirable. Using your excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills, you'll work closely with the Curriculum Coordinator to motivate and support tutors to deliver outstanding lessons.
