Are you an enthusiastic and customer focussed individual who would like to play a key role in providing a safe and welcoming experience across our leisure centres?

This is an exciting time to be joining Sport Services as a Leisure Centre Attendant. Working at one of our fantastic leisure centres across the City, you will assist with the day to day running of the facility.

After 3 years of delivering year on year improvements we now have in place ambitious plans to ‘step up the service’ to take us to the next level. Exciting plans for capital improvement have been approved and the Service is growing in confidence and ambition to continue the next phase of transformation and improvement.

You must be prepared to be based in any of our sites with the flexibility to move across to other sites in accordance with service needs. You will also be willing to wear a uniform and name badge and be willing to work across full centre opening hours, including early morning, evenings and weekends.

Your role

As a Leisure Centre Attendant, you’ll provide the highest standard of customer service whilst ensuring the health and safety of customers. This will include being responsible for pool supervision ensuring bathers are safe and follow rules and be required to act up to prevent accidents and vandalism. You’ll also responsible for remedial cleaning of the building and to set up and take down equipment for activities.

What you'll need

With strong swimming skills, you’ll either have a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) or be willing to obtain this qualification within one week following commencement in post. You’ll also be prepared to continue training on a monthly basis to keep your Lifeguard qualification live. With previous experience of working in a customer service environment, you’ll have good communication skills to effectively communicate with other staff and centre users, and deal with potentially difficult customers in a sensitive and effective manner.

Additional information

Fixed term posts for up to 6 months.

Various full-time and part-time hours. You will be required to work a two-week rota consisting of early, late and weekend shifts. You may also need to work bank holidays.

The full-time salary for this post is £18,562 - £18933 per annum which will be pro-rata for part-time posts.
