About the job

The postholder will be responsible for pool supervision ensuring bathers are safe and follow rules, communicating effectively with other staff and centre users. You will also be responsible for remedial cleaning of the building and be required to set up and take down equipment for activities.

You will

Advise, help and supervise the public, acting to prevent accidents and vandalism

Ensure effective communication with all relevant parties, particularly the community and users, on operational difficulties, offering possible solutions.

Assist in Health and Safety checks and record information as required by procedures.

Assist in the organisation and supervision of Special Events, exhibitions and displays.

Set out sporting and other equipment as required.

Carry out remedial cleaning in all parts of the facility ‐ to include external litter collection as required.

Maintain basic security and acts as a steward at Special Events.

Carry out reception duties as required

Support the Duty Officer team through the provision of appropriate and timely information and advice.

Requirements of the post

Current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification 8th Edition

Experience of providing good customer service, preferably gained within a leisure or service environment

Understanding of the importance of excellent customer care

An understanding of the importance of Health and Safety issues in swimming pools

Experience and the ability to act as an advocate/champion for sport and the benefits it offers to communities

1 Part Time, Fixed Term post until 31/12/2019 - 20 hours per week

Casual positions (as and when required)


Fixed Term Posts: £18,065 - £18,426 per annum, pro rata

Casual Posts: £9.00 per hour (Living Wage)*

*Salary: Leicester City Council is committed to paying a living wage, you will be paid a minimum of £9.00 per hour for standard working hours (subject to review).

If you work at the weekend, we will pay your normal hourly rate plus a premium of 33.3%.
