Job purpose

We are looking for customer focussed and highly motivated Neighbourhood Services Assistants to assist in the day to day operation and delivery of library and community services. Working across a range of our libraries and community centres across the city, you will provide efficient and high-quality customer service to adults and children in accordance with systems, statutory procedures, legislation, corporate standards and policies.

Your role

You will ensure that our buildings are welcoming to customers, assist with promoting the library and community offer as well as encouraging members of the community to use our services. With a wide knowledge of Council services, you will signpost and resolve queries from the public and provide consistent and flexible levels of administration and business support to the Council and service area in line with corporate standards

What you will need

You will have experience of dealing with a variety of customer enquiries in person, on the telephone or via email. You will also have experience of or ability to open and close a building and setting up as required to meet the needs of users and the service in order to create a welcoming and well-presented environment. With good IT skills, you will be able to confidently use software packages such as Word and Outlook and have experience of inputting and maintaining computerised records.

Additional information

We have the following part-time vacancies:

17 hours per week, 18.5 hours per week, 20 hours per week, 32 hours per week. Shifts will include weekends and evenings at various locations.

4.5 hours on Sunday at Belgrave library, 3.25 hours on Saturday at Rushey Mead library and a monthly 6 hr shift at Belgrave library.

These posts are all fixed term until 30th June 2020.
