Job purpose

We are looking for an organised Pay and Benefits Advisor, who will be responsible for administering the end to end employee pay and benefit transactional lifecycle process for Leicester City Council. With your excellent prioritisation skills, you will manage 1500 employees to ensure all contractual changes are actioned in a prescribed monthly timetable.

Your role

Using the state-of-the-art Payroll/HR System and your excellent verbal and written communication skills, you will advise and guide internal and external customers on pay related matters. You will work both independently and as part of a team to deliver to tight deadlines and resolve complex tasks and queries. By being customer focused, you will be tactful and diplomatic when handling customer enquiries. On occasion, you will use your numerical skills to calculate changes to pay in accordance with occupational and statutory requirements, whilst demonstrating attention to detail and accuracy.

What you will need

Your experience of working in a large-scale payroll environment will enable you to process pay, pension, statutory and voluntary deductions and employee benefits for new starters, leavers and contract changes. Your sound knowledge of statutory payments and deductions e.g. Tax, National Insurance, Pensions will ensure employee pension schemes are applied and maintained in accordance with statutory regulations. On occasion you will negotiate appropriate timescales for the recovery of salary overpayments. With your excellent IT skills, you will interrogate our integrated Payroll/HR System to respond to employee queries in a timely manner.

Previous experience of working in the public sector would be an advantage, however this is not essential as full training will be provided on all job specific tasks. Therefore, if you are organised, can work under pressure, whilst being customer focused, we would like to hear from you.
