Your role

As a confident Architect you’ll provide technical and expert professional advice to clients and senior management in relation to Architectural and allied construction issues, including advice on critical situations regarding the building and environmental works design, construction, FM and ICT provision, maintenance and usage. You’ll be responsible for the appraisal, review and/or evaluation of feasibility studies, designs, specifications, contract documentation, project management and supervision of projects to ensure that designs meet standards requested by briefs.

You’ll have time out to liaise with Project Managers, in-house and external Consultants, Customers i.e. School headteachers and Business Managers about project and service delivery by Consultants and Contractors, including attending Project and Programme Boards when required to provide progress reports, feedback, highlight risks etc. You’ll also manage, and co-ordinates allocated human, material, financial and other resources, provides high quality professional advice and expertise. Provides resource and financial planning and target setting, ensuring sufficient Architectural support to the Council’s portfolio of Capital projects

What you’ll need

You’ll be self-motivated with the ability to motivate, manage and lead service/teams. You’ll need experience of working in the Education sector in a design capacity, with the skills of managing and negotiating Contracts and Suppliers. You’ll have the ability to produce and present technical reports, including commercial options to Management, Elected Members CEO etc. You’ll need experience of risk management at a senior level and the ability to manage budgets efficiently. Registered or Chartered Architect qualification is also a must.
