Your role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the legal team of Leicester City Council’s Legal Services. We are looking for a confident self-motivated individual to provide commercially focused legal advice and act as lead lawyer on a range of challenging matters. You will work in a supportive environment with a well-established team, having your own varied caseload of commercial, contract and general local government law matters.

You will provide and secure high-quality legal services for the Council and other agreed public bodies in the areas of Commercial and Contract Law (including Public Procurement), whilst managing external relationships in order to facilitate the provision of high-quality legal services.

You will represent the Division on regular basis with clients carrying through assigned tasks and matters to conclusion, whilst supporting the Head of Law to ensure the provision of quality, client focussed and cost-effective legal services

You will also support and supervise junior members of the team in order to assist with their development and learning.

What you will need

You will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive in the area of Commercial and Contract law, with experience of commercial and contract law and Local Government legal work in the public or private sector.

You will have knowledge of commercial and contract (including public procurement) law, practice and procedure and of the requirements of Local Government law, and the advising upon the associated restrictions and considerations.
