An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Leicester City Council’s legal planning and highways team. We are looking for a confident self-motivated individual to provide a high standard of planning and highways legal advice, with a predominant focus on planning law, supporting the trainee’s development in the area. You will work in a supportive environment with a well-established team, in addition to having your own varied caseload of planning and highways matters.
You will provide and secure high-quality legal services for the Council across the areas of Planning and Highways Law (including acting for the Council as developer where there is not a conflict with your primary role supporting the Council’s Planning function).
You will work closely with the Council’s litigation team in relation to enforcement matters and support the Council’s Planning Committee attending as legal advisor.
With your excellent communication skills, problem-solving approach and ability to work as part of a team, you will support the Head of Law to ensure the provision of quality, client focussed and cost-effective legal services whilst being confident in giving clear and accurate advice and recommendations.
Whilst using clear communication skills to manage external relationships in order to facilitate the provision of high-quality legal services.
You will be a Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with substantial experience of PQE in the area of Planning Law, ideally with some experience in Highways Law.
With experience of advising officers and members you will be able to confidently support the Council’s planning to deliver a comprehensive legal service to the council.
You will have experience of Local Government Law and working with or within the local government environment, whether in Private or Public sector.
Your will have well developed skills in negotiation, drafting and the giving of advice in various formats as well as having knowledge of the requirements of Local Government law, and the advising upon the associated restrictions and considerations
