About the job


Due to expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen within our Social Care & Safeguarding team to recruit an additional two Child Care lawyers.

If you are dynamic and motivated about working within the Public sector and are passionate about Child protection work then we want to hear from you.

We offer a supported working environment with flexible working to include home working and opportunities for career development. You will be joining a well-established and experienced team of lawyers, paralegals and support staff.


Hours: Full Time - 37 hours per week

Salary: £38,813 - £41,675 per annum

You will


Advise, negotiate and act as advocate as required and to have conduct of hearings

Draft agreements, contracts, pleadings and other legal documents as required

Provide advice and service committees, joint committees, panels, advisory bodies and working parties as required.

Assist in the training and supervision of less experienced staff.

Keep up to date with and provide advice on legal issues.

Assist in the appointment and instruction of external solicitors, barristers and other advisors and to monitor their performance

Requirements of post


Demonstrate commitment to working with computer and other office systems

Willing and able to adapt to new and differing areas of work and / or procedures

Experience of good written and oral communications skills

Excellent advocacy skills plus a willingness to undertake advocacy

Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive entitled to practise

Recent in depth knowledge and post qualification experience in Child Care litigation, to include advising on social services functions in respect of children, young persons, safeguarding and judicial review challenges

Demonstrable skills and strengths in negotiation, drafting, giving advice, persuading and influencing
