Your role

This is an exciting opportunity to improve the quality and quantity of social work practice learning opportunities available in Leicester City, by co-ordinating provision of practice learning opportunities, training and supporting on-site supervisors, training, supporting and assessing practice educators, supporting social worker development and undertaking supervision and assessment of students using an off-site model of practice teaching. This role will focus on developing and supporting social work and social care apprenticeships.

You will be supporting Leicester City Council in operating with creativity and drive for the benefit of Leicester and its people.

You will

Be responsible for co-ordinating, supporting and monitoring social work and social care practice learning opportunities with a particular focus on apprenticeships including liaison with Universities, providers and operational divisions.

Develop and support divisional policies and procedures to increase the quality, quantity and diversity of apprenticeship practice learning and development opportunities.

Lead on the development of social work and social care education by:-
a. Supporting access to social work education opportunities and curriculum development
b. Training, support and assessing Practice Educators in conjunction with partner agencies.
c. Research, plan and deliver training and development activities for on-site supervisors and practice educators

What you will need

You will have excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, procedures and an ability to use them and an understanding of theories of adult learning in the context of social work practice, along with substantial experience of working as a Practice Educator with at least two recent students.

You will have good verbal and written communication skills to convey information to a variety of audiences, and have good analytical skills and skills to assess practice (written, via observations).

You will have an ability to manage, supervise, motivate and develop staff effectively individually and in groups and an ability to translate theories, policies, procedures to practise and support others to do so.

Additional information

This is a part time role to be worked 18.5 hours per week. The exact working pattern can be discussed at interview.
