To help deliver our vision we are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Practice Educator to improve the quality and quantity of social work and social care practice learning opportunities.
Working as part of our Centre for Professional Practice; alongside the Principal Social Workers, Learning and Development Managers and as part of a specialised practice education team, you will focus on developing, co-ordinating and supporting social work programmes and placements alongside universities, providers and the teams across Children’s and Adults Social Care and Education Division.

As a Senior Practice Educator, you will co-ordinate the provision of practice learning opportunities, training and supporting on-site supervisors, as well as training, supporting and assessing practice educators, supporting social worker development and undertaking supervision and assessment of students using an off-site model of practice teaching. You will support access to social work education opportunities and curriculum development as well as research, plan and deliver training and development activities for on-site supervisors and practice educators.
With substantial experience of working as a Practice Educator with at least two recent students, you will have excellent knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and procedures. You will also have an understanding of theories of adult learning in the context of social work practice, along with the ability to translate theories, policies and procedures to practice and support others to do so. With good verbal and written communication skills sufficient to convey information to a variety of audiences, you will also have good analytical skills to assess practice (written, via observations). Using a calm but assertive approach you will have the ability to manage, supervise, motivate and develop staff effectively either individually or in groups.
