Your role


You’ll be project managing and delivering some of the council’s most interesting capital building projects, it could be a school, a museum, a transformational office project, whatever it is it will be interesting, and no two days will be same. You will lead from the front and need to motivate and manage the project team members and their performance including contractors assigned to the project and chairing project team meetings. You’ll implement and manage a risk management process and protocol, ensuring that risks are effectively identified, prioritised, mitigated and monitored throughout the life of the project. You’ll need to deliver a project management executive plan, which ensures great stakeholder management and a clear strategy for the project, ensuring that key stakeholders are engaged in the right way and at the right time. You will manage internal relationships with a variety of directorates, external partners and contractors.

What you need


You’ll need to be a proven project manager with experience of successfully delivering capital projects. With an understanding of the needs of customers and key stakeholders, you’ll have experience of working with a wide range of people at a variety of levels, including senior management and politicians. You’ll have a track record of delivering large, complex projects or a range of smaller projects and experience of managing and motivating multi-disciplinary teams, including experience of matrix management working. You’ll also need a Project Management qualification e.g. Prince 2 together with a degree
