This is an outstanding opportunity to influence, support and lead our adult and children’s social care and education strategy and make a positive contribution to the lives of individuals, families and communities in one of the UK’s fastest-growing cities.
Working closely with the city mayor, senior council officers and councillors, you’ll develop and deliver a strategic vision for social care and education services. You’ll oversee both children’s and adult social care as we support the most vulnerable people in Leicester. This includes providing expert advice on all relevant policy areas and best practice to ensure we continue to improve our services and how we deliver them.
At the same time, you’ll have overall operational, financial, managerial and professional accountability for providing and commissioning front-line services to protect and develop children, young people and adults in Leicester. That means giving clear leadership to your teams and inspiring them to continuously look for ways to improve and deliver high quality services, while making the most of available resources. It means developing strong working relationships with a wide range of partners. Most of all, it means ensuring that our services improve the quality of life for people across the city, from enhancing their knowledge and skills to protecting and safeguarding the most vulnerable.
What you need
You’ll be an experienced senior manager with a proven record of successfully leading a highly complex, service critical organisation and developing successful working partnerships. A motivational leader with the ability to engage and inspire people at all levels, you’ll have the drive and energy to ensure we design, develop and deliver innovative solutions that make Leicester the best UK city to live, learn and thrive in.
With a background in leading major strategic change, you’ll have the confidence to operate effectively in a political environment and to achieve goals successfully, while meeting budgetary targets. Most of all, you’ll be committed to developing social care and education services that transform people’s lives in a vibrant, diverse and multicultural city.
