The Learning, Communication and Interaction (LCI) team support and promote the education of pupils with LCI needs, including specific learning difficulties, language and communication difficulties or autism, in Leicester city schools. The team is made of specialist teachers in the areas of specific learning difficulties, speech, language and communication and autism, teaching assistants and an interactive play specialist.
We are currently looking for two experienced Learning, Communication and Interaction (LCI) teachers to join our team at Leicester city council. As the designated LCI team link Teacher for several Leicester city schools, you will manage your caseload to work and work with school staff and pupils to provide guidance including assessing, advising, monitoring, evaluating and supporting with some direct teaching.
Based at New Parks House you will join a team of specialist teachers and teaching assistants and you will facilitate the sharing of good practices and networking across Leicester city schools. Spending most of the time in schools supporting staff and pupils you will be required travel to various sites to provide training where needed.
Following the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) code of practise, you will work with school support teams to advise on the preparation and implementation of individual programmes and reviews of pupils’ progress. You will directly work with pupils to understand their learning and social needs. You will make recommendations to the school to support the needs of the individual and model how to implement your advice to ensure children on your caseload make progress in their areas of need. You will support the school SENCo around SEND processes and work collaboratively with a range of professionals, schools and families. Using your experience and knowledge of SEND, and your proficient written and oral communication skills, you will attend meetings, write reports and provide recommendations for EHCP educational assessments as well as statutory reviews.
As a qualified teacher, you will hold Qualified Teacher Status and have significant experience in Special Educational Needs including experience with pupils with learning, communication and interaction needs (including Specific Learning Difficulties, Language and Communication Difficulties or AUTISM). Being a successful teacher in mainstream or SEN schools you will have the ability to work across all phases and in a variety of types of schools. Having an informed understanding of the key issues for SEND including specific learning difficulties, language and communication difficulties and autism, you will also have an understanding of the key issues for SEND and LCI on a local and national level as well as knowledge of legislation and good practice. Using your excellent interpersonal skills, you will be able to relate positively to pupils, parents, school staff teams and other professionals.

These posts are Permanent and Full Time on Teacher’s Pay and Conditions however we will consider part-time hours.
Salary for this post is from Main Pay Scale to Upper Pay Scale (£24,373 - £40,490 per annum) plus TLR allowance of up to £4,169 per annum. Salary will be pro-rated for part-time hours.
You are required to start on 24th August 2020.
