Your role

We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Vehicle Technician!

In this role you will maintain the council’s diverse fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment to include inspection, servicing, test preparation, fault diagnosis and repair.

You will carry out vehicle / plant / equipment inspection, servicing, test preparation, fault diagnostics, maintenance and repair.

Also you will be expected to complete all written or computerised vehicle and job sheet records on completion of work as well as interpret information received from drivers and users of plant and equipment, give advice on actions to be taken and provide feedback on the work completed

You will need

You will be required to demonstrate previous experience of servicing vehicles, plant and equipment to include fault diagnostics, repair and maintenance as well as ability to use the appropriate trade tools and methods and how to apply these in a safe way              .

You will have ability to trace, diagnose and repair vehicles, plant and equipment faults, to include the identification of parts and equipment required

You are required to have full driving licence and literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to perform the job tasks

You must be able to have at least one of the following:

  • Successful completion of a recognised industry apprenticeship such as an Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) approved apprenticeship and/or

  • Level 3 qualification in light/heavy vehicle or plant engineering (City & Guilds Part II, BTEC National, ONC/D or similar)
