Our Town Hall office
Our Grade II listed, Victorian, red-brick office, Town Hall, was opened in August 1876 and was the winner of an architectural competition to design a replacement for the Guildhall as the seat of local government. At the time, the Town Hall was home to council offices and the Council Chamber, law courts, the Borough Police, a Sanitary Department, the School Board and 30 lamplighters.
Now it is home to our Neighbourhood Services and Arts and Museums Teams. But it is also a major landmark in Leicester with around 1,000 marriage and civil partnership ceremonies take place every year in our register office. Being based in the city centre means you’ll find plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants close by. It also means getting here’s easy. We’re around a ten-minute walk from Leicester train station and a ten-minute walk from St Margaret's Bus Station. If you’re a cyclist, there’s a secure bike storage area, as well as showers and changing facilities onsite.

All this combines to make Leicester an attractive proposition to work, live, visit, and study.
