Information Technology

We’re at the sharp end of the council’s digital transformation, working with a diverse range of networks, servers and applications to support everything from transport and housing to social care. Our teams cover IT procurement to project management, development and support to solutions architectures, networks and servers. Join us and you’ll be surprised by the number and complexity of projects you could be involved in.

We use a variety of desktop, mobile and Cloud applications to support the needs of departments across the council. For example, we’re looking at the potential of AI and automation to improve how we serve residents. And we’re supporting flexible working by introducing some of the latest Microsoft tools such as MS-Teams and MS-365. As the council continues to look at more effective and innovative ways to serve the people of Leicester, we’ll continue to lead the way.

Join our development team and you could be involved in a range of digital transformation projects that will shape the way the council operates in the future. From developing MS-365 cloud and mobile applications to CRM systems, collaboration platforms and AI applications, you’ll enjoy the chance to use the latest Microsoft developer tools and develop systems that helps improve life for people across Leicester.

Network and Server Security

As we continue to develop new systems and applications for the council, keeping them safe and secure from potential threats is vital. In our IT security team, you’ll be helping to protect our networks, servers and applications. From training people in IT security, to testing new systems and applications, you’ll play a key role in protecting the council’s assets.

Service Desk

The Support Analysts on our Service Desk are the first point of call for our 5,500 users if they need day-to-day IT support. Join our team and you’ll be taking calls from users, assessing their issues and either solving them yourself or passing them on to an experienced support engineer. It’s a great place to build on your technical skills and launch your IT career.

As the council introduces new technologies, one of our biggest challenges is to develop solutions that meet its diverse needs. As one of our developers, you could be involved in anything from coding solutions for reporting potholes to developing advanced CRM systems, data warehousing to data analytics. With tailored training leading to a recognised industry qualification and real application development or data analysis experience, it’s an environment where you can add to your skills.

Working for the council has been very exciting, there’s never been a day where work feels boring or repetitive. Things are always changing and the diversity of projects has really given me the opportunity to broaden my horizons. There are also many opportunities to progress. I took advantage of the hands-on training and step-by-step progression plan. I’ve also been working on new projects independently. This invaluable experience has allowed me to showcase my skills and explore different career paths.
